Helping Kids with a Touch of Comfort

I've always enjoyed making charity blocks when ever I get the chance to help out - especially for children. That is one of the reasons I help out with the HGTV Sunshine Quilter's group each month. ;) It is a small way to be a part of something bigger. ;)

Today while jumping around blogland, I happened up on Quilts by Kathie's Blog and learned of something new that is being sponsored by the Downey Fabric Softener product. Kathie shared a photo of all the stuff that was MAILED TO HER to make and complete a quilt to send back to Quilts for Kids.org - an entire KIT! f abric, pattern, even a quilt label. Take a look! ;)

Have you heard about Downy's Touch of Comfort Quilt Project? It is a team effort with the nonprofit organization of www.quiltsforkids.org

I spent some time on their website finding out more about it and really enjoyed reading thru the kids' Thank You letters. and of course who doesn't enjoy clicking thru a Gallery Page to see lots of photos of quilts that have been made?

and although right now I have too many irons in the fire to begin one... I was happy to learn on the "About us page" that the founder mentioned that she began this project some 9 years ago!

So this isn't some project that is for a limited time... in fact, take a look at their "Fact Sheet" to see how many fabric manufactures are a part of this and also how many hospitals receive quilts!

www.Quilts For Kids.org will for sure be on my list for 2010!

We are pleased to announce a new alliance with P&G’s Downy brand and CMN hospitals. The program is called the Downy Touch of Comfort. Quilts for Kids comforts children in need so this is a perfect partnership.

Click here to find out their requirements and also for their mailing address.

If you'd like to REQUEST a QUILT KIT click here and they will ship you one.

Love from Texas!

  1. Hi Bonnie!
Thanks for the great description of Quilts for Kids. I am fortunate enough to be an employee and they are a great foundation doing great work!

  2. Bonnie, great write up and thanks for including all the links. I am not very computer savy and have not figured out how to do that on my blog.

    Have a great day.

    Kathie from Southern Maryland

  3. Hi again Bonnie!
Today at Quilts for Kids Headquarters there were almost a dozen requests for kits from people who discovered QFK from your blog and Kathie's blog. Thanks for helping to spread the word!

  4. Hi Bonnie, Thanks for posting the info for the quilts for kids, I've ordered a kit and plan to send a couple of my own back with it.

  5. I'm off to check it out. What a great project! Thanks for sharing it with us.

  6. I think Quilts for Kids might be one of the organizations that was in the Quilting for Peace book that also featured HeartStrings -- I'll have to go back and read that chapter. It's amazing to me how many different organizations there are for donation quilting and wonderful that so many quilters give their time to make quilts for those in need.
