Doesn't Mary Englebreit have the cutest designs - I've heard that she even designs fabric but I've never purchased any.... yet. ;)

Did you know that she has a BLOG???? I didn't until just now as I went searching for her website to add the links above. :) Looks like I've found yet another to add to my Google Reader! :)

Bridge City Library Quilt Raffle

JudyL, I saw your BEAUTIFUL quilt that you donated to the library for the first time yesterday when David and I took the kids to the Story Time Christmas party! Ginger & Michelle have it on display just as you come in the entrance - I thought you'd like to take a look at how cute they have it decorated for winter ;)

It really is gorgeous - more so in person than the photo I have... someone is gonna be a very lucky proud owner and from our cold weather we've been having I'm sure that has helped ticket sales ;)

Thank you again Judy for your generous donation to my friends at the Bridge City library! :) I know they are so very grateful for your generosity!!! Everyone in that area appreciates all the support they've been given as they rebuild their homes and town.... stronger than before.

Quilter friends are some of the most thoughtful friends I've ever met!!! A few dozen I've had the pleasure of meeting before in person and many more that I may never meet.

Quilt in the top photo was made Judy Laquidara. Raffle tickets on sale at Bridge City's Library. $2 each. All proceeds will go to the Library to help with damages from Hurricane Ike that devastated and flooded the entire town on September 13, 2008. #12 - Heavenly

The 12th gift theme is heavenly.

3 Angel ornaments for my Christmas tree. I think I'll name them Love, Hope & Faith

Although I could call them Nora, Olivia & Paul Thomas b/c they are my 3 little angels too :) never mind the fact that they are all "girl angels - b/c Paul Thomas doesn't' know he's a boy - he loves wearing his big sister's shoes and pink boots.. and he la,la,loves Dora the Explorer and guess what color those PJs are... pink & yellow... so seeing him in an angel dress would be no big deal at all in my home :)

and that is fine with us.

Getting ready for KY

In case you are wondering... yes I wrote up all these gift opening posts all at one time and "scheduled" them to each be posted different days... so today when you read this, I'll be busy working my shinny hinny off getting ready for our BIG ROAD TRIP TO KY to be home with our family for the rest of the year! ;)

Tonight (Thursday) I'm busy sewing on the borders for Ruby's quilt to give to her tomorrow - I just found a tape measure today! I'm also finishing up Nora's ornaments that she worked so hard tracing... and all day tomorrow - when you read this I'll be packing and checking off my list of to do before leaving.

Perhaps sometime after day break on Saturday if I'm feeling up to it I'll get the laptop out while we are headed North in the van and write a post or two...? David has the laptop and cell phone all set up to work with each other so we will have connection anywhere we are.

maybe not.. I am taking along some hand sewing and a book and then there is the usual climbing back and forth between my passenger seat and the way back where the kids are to get what ever they drop... and back and forth... and maybe I'll get lucky and get to sleep - when it's not my turn to drive. Yes we drive it straight thru the 16 hours..

yeah, maybe not... :P so until you hear from me - enjoy the rest of the package opening posts!

#11 - Reading & Writing

#11 - Reading & Writing... humm sounds like I'm getting a homework assignment doesn't it?

Well let's see what could be waiting for me inside these two packages.

The first to open is the larger one.

I do have several quilting books - but none on actual hand quilting. :) Both my mother and Momma Newt were hand quilters and since they passed away long before I took up the hobby this will be a great book to read since I do not have my loved ones around to teach me and give me helpful advice on hand quilting. I'm definitely taking this with me for our trip home to KY!

We are planning to leave around supper time Friday so most of the driving time will be at night while the kids are asleep - but I'm sure there will be plenty of reading time the next morning as for us it takes around 16 hours to drive home to KY. :/

I'm lucky I don't get motion sickness.. Reading is something I can do while riding in the car. However I'm not able to do any redwork or stiching :( simply b/c of the vibration on the vehicle prevents me from making nice and neat stitches and I rather wait than to have sloppy work.

So what is in the smaller of the 2 packages....? Want to take a guess...? If the big one was for "reading" then the smaller one must be "writing" right?

RIGHT! Ooooough!!! These beautiful cards look like hand stitched Baltimore Album Applique Quilts! I've received notes on cards like these before from swappers and bingo players and I always pin up on my bulletin board in my sewing room b/c they are toooooo pretty to hide away... I love these Kathy!!! TY, TY, Thank-You!!
