Jackson

I don't think I mentioned here on my quilty blog... but since so many quilters are pet lovers... so I think I'll go ahead and share about Jackson here on my quilty blog too.

Last month, for our "Ike" evacuation we went to my Dad's in Kentucky... and when we came home we did not get to bring back Jackson, our miniature schnauzer. :( He was hit by a car and killed instantly the Saturday morning before we left that following Monday. My Dad heard it happen and was able to run to the road but it was too late.

I waited until later that afternoon before telling Nora... and she was very sad but dealt wit it really good I thought. It was harder on me than her... and not any easier making the phone call to my husband back in Texas to share the news.
Since then...it has been difficult for my Dad, me and my husband. We had 9 years of memories with Jackson. Jackson was my first baby! and the only animal I have ever had over a year... that DAMN road has killed every one of my childhood pets! sorry.

So now that we are back at our home in TX... I miss Jackson even more! Especially any time I go to the mailbox in the afternoons. It just doesn't seem the same without him.
and just this morning as we were getting hair fixed for school, Nora told me she missed Jackson. She said, "Momma, maybe Jackson will rose again like Jesus did." ....isn't that sweet.

Probably most of you already knew this news.. from reading my post "A Sad Goodbye" over on my family blog... but today I just wanted to post about Jackson b/c that is what is on my heart.....

Thanks for letting me share.

Love from Texas!

  1. Oh Bonnie, I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you and your family. Losing a pet is awful at any time, but to lose one during an exacuation, when you aren't at home. I can't imagine. (((HUGS)))

  2. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved "first child." Pets give us such unconditional love and devotion and expect so little in return. I try to look at it this way--so many animals are abused and neglected--yours lived with love and care. With tears in my eyes, know Jackson is running in green meadows in doggie heaven and hopefully you will be reunited again in the future. Meanwhile, he can play nice with all the Currier poodles up there. I know how hard it can be to lose your "doggie children" as I could never had any of the human kind and allergic to fur, Poodles have been my constant companions. In fact, I have two sitting at my feet right now, Katie and Simone, who is a rescue poodle--that is a very sad story about her and her sister (who passed last December) that I will share with you later. I have to stop crying now...time will heal your heart, but you will never forget, nor should you.

Bless Nora for her comment--kids are so darn honest and cute.
